We will resume annual Chinese Lunar New Year celebration on February 4th, 2023.
This is a free Open-to-Public event at Silver Creek High School (4901 Nelson Road, Longmont, CO 80503).
Lunar New Year is one of the most important celebrations for Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Singaporean, and other East and Southeastern Asian cultures. The holiday marks the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunar calendar. China’s Lunar New Year is known as the Spring Festival or Chūnjié (春节/春節) in Mandarin, while for example, Koreans call it Seollal (설날), and Vietnamese refer to it as Tết.
Beauty of QiPao 旗袍 by Qi Zhou Design Studio
Our showcase features the most iconic piece of Chinese clothing, the QiPao. The QiPao first emerged from the final Qing Dynasty of the Manchurian group. It later saw a resurgence in popularity during the 1920s, evolving to the style that we typically see today. Throughout history, and particularly in eastern fashion, the QiPao has represented socialites, aristocracy, and the elegance of the modern Chinese woman. For our New Year Celebration, we’d like to re-introduce you to the Beauty of QiPao.
